Landungsbrücken

The most charming mini harbor tour

Hop on the U3 at Landungsbrücken and you’ll get a movie-style view of Hamburg’s harbor. The train runs right past the Elbe, the Speicherstadt and the Elbphilharmonie, offering a panorama that feels like it should come with a ticket. A small and fun harbor tour on rails, no waves, but plenty of real Hamburg vibes.

Altona (Fischmarkt)

Roatan

If you fancy a change, give the Fischmarkt a miss and head to Roatan, a little Caribbean restaurant on the corner opposite Große Elbstraße. Here you can eat your fill of Creole specialities, but make sure you leave space for a slice of Aunt Anna Haylock’s yucca cake afterwards! You could be forgiven for thinking you had wandered onto the set of Finding Nemo here.

Altona (Fischmarkt)

Bistro Liberté

LIBERTÉ – the name really says it all here. You can feel the French word for freedom in the bistro, directly
at the pier Altona Fischmarkt, especially. On the water side Dock 11, ships within reach,
plus the magnificent panoramic view up to the Elphi. On the land side, the historic fish auction hall is impressive.
Here you can switch off, relax and enjoy the best of the port of Hamburg - whether with a café and tart,
Classics of French bistro cuisine or starting the day together with a delicious cocktail.
More Hamburg is hard to find.

Dockland (Fischereihafen)

Zum Elbblick

If you disembark here, make sure you bring a healthy appetite with you. All sorts of eateries can be found in Große Elbstraße, from Henssler to the legendary Café Schmidt. A few metres further along, you can stop off at the restaurant Zum Elbblick. Traditional, unobtrusive and cosy, it serves draught Jever and market-fresh herring.

Neumühlen/Övelgönne

Sutsche

Swap the hustle and bustle of the Strandperle for the café at the Augustinum assisted living development. With cakes like Grandma makes and a fantastic panoramic view of the harbour, what more could you want? If that’s a bit staid for you, try Sutsche instead, where you can enjoy tarte flambée underneath a huge weeping willow.

Bubendey-Ufer

Untouched nature

Anyone who knows Bubendey-Ufer will find it hard to understand why it isn’t busier. A walk past Lotsenpark to the Alter Hamburger Jachtclub reveals this area’s wild, melancholy, romantic appeal. Nowhere else in the heart of the Port of Hamburg will you find untouched nature like this. It’s also worth visiting the famous avenue of poplars, which most people will only have seen from the Strandperle.

Finkenwerder

Ride Stadtrad, feel Hamburg

When you step off the ferry in Finkenwerder, your next adventure is right there. The red Stadtrad bikes are waiting at the pier, ready to take you into the Altes Land, past fruit farms, old farmhouses and along the Elbe river. Just hop on, start riding and discover one of Hamburg’s most beautiful countryside areas.
